DIRECTIVE PRINCIPLES OF STATE POLICY
Our constitution has laid down some directions for the government to follow. It shall be the duties of the state to apply these principles in making laws. These are called Directive Principles of state policy. Some of the Directive Principles are :

- The government should provide an opportunity for the education of children between the age of 6 and 14 years.
- The government should provide better living conditions for all the citizens.
- The government should provide work for all men and women.
- The government should improve the living conditions of scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and weaker sections of the society.
- The government should promote equal justice and provide free legal aid to the poor.
- The government should promote cottage industries on individual or cooperative basis in rural areas.
- The government should provide equal distribution of material resources to the community for common use.
- The government should promote equal pay for equal work done by both men and women.
